SUSHISAMBA celebrates the unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian culture and cuisine. The first location opened it’s doors in New York City in 1999. Since then, the brand has celebrated over 15 years of creative yet always consistent cuisine spiked by a devotion to art, design and music.
SUSHISAMBA is born of the energy and spirit of three distinct cultures; a tri-cultural coalition that took root in the early 20th century when thousands of Japanese emigrants traveled to South America’s fertile soil to cultivate coffee plantations and find their fortune. In bustling cities like Lima in Peru, and São Paulo in Brazil, the integration of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cultures flourished.
This cultural phenomenon launched a culinary coup. Hearty moquecas and colorful seviches found a place at the table alongside simple miso soup and tender sashimi. SUSHISAMBA serves these traditional dishes, plus more inventive fare, including sawagani, tuna tataki and anticuchos. Equal parts imagination and history, the SUSHISAMBA experience is truly unique.
With locations in New York, Miami, Las Vegas and London and future growth plans well underway – SUSHISAMBA has long been both a critic and consumer favorite, boasting accolades ranging from Restaurant of the Year (London Lifestyle Awards) to Food and Traveler’s Bar of the Year awards and is frequently featured in variety of publications ranging from CNN, Wine Enthusiast, New York Times, Vogue, USA Today, Financial Times, WSJ among many others.
Beating at the heart of every SUSHISAMBA is a deep appreciation for enjoying life and celebrating with friends.
Duck & Waffle offers a playful take on traditional British cuisine with broad European influences emphasizing local, rustic, seasonal and sustainable ingredients. Dishes are designed for sampling and sharing and are complemented by an iconoclastic cocktail experience served in a vibrant atmosphere that welcomes guests 24/7. Breakfast, brunch, late night, desserts: “all day” dining is redefined at Duck & Waffle. The restaurant serves from sunrise to sunset to sunrise again — and every hour in between. Dubbed “the city’s biggest game changer in recent years” by CNN Travel, Duck & Waffle has been delighting diners since opening in 2012.
The restaurant serves a balance of the quirky and the conventional under the direction of Group Executive Chef Daniel Doherty; think whole roast Sunday Chicken versus Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut. Other traditional dishes given a fresh, unpredictable slant include Jellied Eels, freshly-baked N’duja & Gruyère Bread, and Foie Gras Crème Brûlée.
The restaurant was lauded as one of the 100 Best Restaurants in London by the National Restaurant Awards in 2015. The Independent’s Lisa Markwell applauded Duck & Waffle for its “high-energy, wham-bam flavor combos”. The brand’s cocktail program garners global attention under the direction of Head of Cocktail & Spirit Development Richard Woods and was recently named a top four finalist for best international restaurant bar by Tales of the Cocktails Spirited Awards, the world’s authority on all things spirit-related.
Duck & Waffle Local is a chef curated, fast casual restaurant featuring a duck driven menu that’s inspired by the Duck & Waffle restaurant and its signature dish, complemented by the highest quality, freshest ingredients.
The idea for Duck & Waffle Local was conceived one morning over a coffee. Chef Dan and I were sitting in the restaurant, having one of our catch-ups, when we began to discuss one of our favourite subjects: food. Looking around the restaurant we watched people enjoy some of our iconic dishes, and wondered how we could bring these dishes to the street and make them more accessible.
What would happen if we could do away with the two-month wait periods for reservations and explore the idea of using our beloved duck in even more creative ways that have yet to be seen in a fast casual format.
Fast forward two years, and we have an incredible new concept with a unique food and drinks menu to match and a great team of people to make the difference. With Duck & Waffle Local, we are combining the worlds of ‘fast’ food and ‘great restaurants’.
We hope you enjoy our vision to make a fast casual restaurant based on our love affair with duck and an appreciation for the freshest vegetables. At Duck & Waffle we have always done things our own way, and this is no different.
