Trendy City restaurant Sushisamba will soon be satisfying the palates of foodies in Covent Garden under expansion plans unveiled on Monday.
Since opening at the Salesforce tower, formerly known as Heron Tower, three years ago, the venue has become popular with celebrities such as couple Robert Pattinson and FKA twigs.
Its operator, Samba Brand Management, will plough more than £4 million into designing a second restaurant after this week signing a lease for 9000 square feet at the Opera Terrace within the Market Building, opening in 2017.
“We gobbled up this opportunity,” Samba’s chief executive Shimon Bokovza told the Standard.
“The energy of Covent Garden and its international appeal make it a natural fit.”
Sushisamba has six branches across the UK and US.
The deal is a major coup for landlord Capital & Counties Properties, which is overhauling the area.
CapCo director Sarah-Jane Curtis said the chain will “bring its creative blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine to the estate”.
